The Project
The design work I did for eMDs included redesigning Plus, an industry standard EHR solution, within the limitations of only being able to change the colors, icons, and typography styling. Other projects were creating mobile workflows for clinicians, and redesigning the entire eRx solution for prescribing medications, as well as additional design projects related to solutions that were acquired during my tenure.
Before: The challenge was not being able to move any containers. The layouts were set in stone. The most we could do was change icons, colors, typography, but the UI itself was immovable.
After: I redesigned what we displayed in the immoveable containers, created an icon library, a new color palette, and introduced a typographic system that didn't exist before.
The Problem
This medical record company encompassed everything from administrative, chart notes, billing, e-prescribing, reporting, patient charts, imaging (xRay management), labs, messaging, and patient tracking (checking-in and out of the clinic).
This was a study in the limitations of design. I was unable to move around any of the user interface: where there were containers, those were never going to move. The height of a header, for example had to remain the same, no matter what. So, given those parameters, my job was to make it look better using CSS and new icons, and that's what I did.
I also worked on some mobile solutions for providers, and on the redesign of e-prescribing, which was a long-term project that involved system architecture, database development, and regulatory authorities.

Results
I provided new design pattern libraries for all sections of this product, and other products that were acquired during my tenure.
