The Project

My design role included redesigning old pages that were not responsive, creating "energy" landers for new products, redesigning the My Account portal for customers, redesigning the macsales homepage, creating new plug & play modules, and taking the old corporate site design mid-project, and updating it with better UX/UI design patterns, and taking it across the finish line for the dev team.

Tools:

· Photoshop

· Wireframing

· High fidelity design in Sketch

· InVision for collaboration with other design team members

· Zeplin for peer reviews, workflows, and handoff to Development team

Energy Landers

New products we wanted to feature would get a special "energy" lander that would also include price grids. This was the first stop for a new product, before it went on to existing only in PDP form.

I created roughly 6 of these per year, and additional configurators for products that were customizable.

The Problem

Making a cohesive brand and design pattern library that could be replicated by design team, all while bringing the site up to accessibility standards, as well as solidifying the brand presence by ensuring that the team had a solid pattern library to work within, while allowing maximum flexibility for new product features.

Results

After a little more than a year, I was able to

  • Complete a design pattern library for input forms, buttons, typography, and other interface elements;
  • Designed a robust new homepage with new header and footer templates;
  • Redesigned the corporate site that would expand the same brand language from Macsales to the overall corporate site's UI.
  • Accessibility: identified and corrected color contrast failures and other UI and layout issues that stemmed from years of having a decentralized design structure.
